Campground
The campground is generally open from about Labour weekend (towards the last
week in October) and closes about April when the frosts start and the thermals
go north. The camp is very busy over the typical Christmas holiday period of
late December and most of January. November is usually busy too, with the
South Island Regional Gliding Champs and possibly a week either side as numbers
build and fade. Although there is no need to book you might find space tight,
especially in early January.
A limited number of private caravans are available for hire, these will need
booking in advance.
The campground is available for glider pilots and their families. However if
you have a connection with aviation you'll be most welcome to stay too.
Facilities
The campground has excellent facilites. There is one building that houses a kitchen, laundry, showers and toilets. There's a BBQ area and kiddies playground too.A number of powered caravan sites are available, otherwise there's plenty of room for tenting.
Rules

All the rules are common sense. The camp is a shared facility, owned by the gliding community and run by volunteers. Thus treat the camp facilities and fellow campers with respect and courtesy. Treat as you would your own home. Clean your dishes and keep the kitchen tidy. Pick up any rubbish you see and contact a local or the OSC if you see anything that needs fixing. No dogs!
Make sure you know who is staying, make sure there are no casuals sneaking in and not paying.
Camp Fees
Camp fees pay for the upkeep of your campground. As soon as you arrive please ensure you register, it's located just inside the kitchen. Take an envelope and extract the lable, attach the lable to your tent or caravan. Pay by cash/cheque, or if staying longer during Champs we will most likely have EFTPOS facilities available.
